Essential Functions:

We are recruiting for a client in rural areas of NY (not NY City, so the area is way cheaper!) as a direct hire of them (no outsourcing). The client is a well-known poultry farm in NY located on the shores of beautiful Lake Champlain in upstate New York, between the Adirondack and Green Mountains, an hour from the City of Burlington, VT. Located 10 minutes from the Canadian border and only an hour from the major city of Montreal.

The position does require the person to work in and around large poultry barns and will be exposed to large amounts of dust and manure as well as the smells associated with chickens. This position supports our farm by monitoring, enhancing, fixing, and replacing all things that are electrical and mechanical, this position may also include aiding in the operation of and maintaining the feed mill that produces feed for our two million hens and our pellet mill operation that produces fertilizer from our hens’ manure. We are looking for a Farm Maintenance and Mill Operation to work at a barn in the rural areas of NY responsible for:

  • Maintain and repair industrial and automated equipment in chicken barns such as egg conveyor belts, egg collection systems, manure belts, and feed and water lines.
  • Ensuring operation of feed and water lines in the layer hen barn, ensuring hens have proper water and feed levels.
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance on this equipment.
  • Identify parts and supplies needed.
  • Operation and maintenance of our onsite feed mill or fertilizer mill
    • Enter feed formulas into the feed mill system, ensuring feed ingredients are mixed into the correct formula and delivered to the correct barn.
    • Ensure deliveries of feed ingredients which include corn, soy, wheat midds, amino acids, fat, etc. into proper feed bins, including checking feed bin levels.
    • Filling micro hoppers with feed ingredients, operating of hand pallet jack to move pallets of ingredients.
  • Operation and maintenance of corn dryer tanks that dry the corn that we grow.
  • Operation of heavy machinery, assisting with the movement of equipment around the farm
  • Maintain a clean environment in the mills.

Job Specifications:

  • 20.00 USD per hour.
  • Location: Chazy NY, U.S.
  • Daily hours are from 6 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, and then 6 am to 12 pm on Saturday. Hours may vary. Opportunity for more hours once trained.
  • Between 50 to 60 hours a week of work.
  • TN Visa process.
  • At least one year of experience.
  • 40 hours vacation and 40 hours sick time, Holidays – Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year, 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day. Health insurance is available. 401k available after 1 year of employment. Holidays may vary based on the seasonal nature of the job.
  • The first month of housing is covered by the client. After that, housing is available. Single room in a shared apartment or house with other TN professionals. Housing cost is $5/day deducted from the employee’s payroll.
  • Transportation arrangements: Indefinite – Employees living together share a work vehicle to go to and from work every day.

Growth opportunity: There is an opportunity to grow, as we mill all our own corn for 2 million laying hens.

Equipment and Tools: The client provides work shoes that stay on-site and coveralls. Any tools needed are located on-site.

Job Requirements:

  • Mexican passport with at least 1.5 years of validity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Animal Breeding, Zootechny, Animal Scientist, or related field.
  • Cedula Professional on hand (not in process).
  • Titulo Universitario on hand (not in process).
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • No previous immigration issues.
  • The applicant should have the ability to walk, stand, and bend most of the day.
  • Intermediate level of English and willing to take English courses.
